Me!
I know: you were hoping to find here a hot chick DJ's bio... instead, another nerd guy! Ahah! :P

I'm Marco, from Italy. Studying informatics science at University, with and a not-so-special job (for now) and a deep love for good music.

Italy is one of the few countries where Trance music is almost unknown and still not particularly appreciated. People don't understand its magic, they can't hear the difference with all other EDM genres. Which is quite sad, imho.

I didn't even know its existence till 2003, when a friend of mine helped me discovering this beautiful world of pumping beats combined with emotional melodies. We share the same taste for good and emotional music. He's still my first reference as "mixes listener" and his support has been indispensable when I begun making mixes (back in 2004) and I wasn't sure about the results.

DJ Doboy's mixes have been my inspiration for making my own mixes. I love creating mixes having something to say. Telling stories. Full of melodies and emotions.

I prefer the old Trance of 2002-2003-2004 period, but Trance of these days has still so much to give to the listener. It still brings its message of genuine emotions, universal freedom, love and harmony between people.

Some mixes have got the chance of being aired on Digitally Imported Radio. That has been an important step for me and helped so much for letting people knowing my mixes. All the feedback and support I'm receiving from all over the world makes me feel so happy and helps me believing in what I'm doing :)

In the future I'd like to visit other countries as much as I can. Even moving outside Italy, perhaps. I love my country, but sometimes I feel myself like a stranger in my house. That's the reason why I often drive to Eastern Europe, specially on weekends to enjoy the awesome nightlife there! ;)

Mixes FAQ
Mixes FAQ  Where can I download DM/VFH volumes 1 and 2, Special Mixes, etc.?
They are not available for download, my choice. Just a bunch of friends of mine owns them :) One of the reasons is that they were my very first mixes and I think they aren't good enough to be released (even though they are very important for me).
Mixes FAQ  What about cue files? 320k mp3? Physical CDs?
CUE files are inside the zip files, only for mixes released since 2010.

Since 2011 all mixes are released on 320k quality. Previous mixes only 192k.

I used to burn my first mixes on CDs, for friends. With the arrival of the digital download revolution, this has obviously became unnecessary. However all the mixes have a duration of 80 minutes max., so that you can easily burn them on CDs for car listening or whatever else, using the CUE files provided :)

I've made an exception for Dream Melodies 12, you can ask me the CD if you want. See the mixes page for details.

Mixes FAQ  How do you make the mixes?
I own both PC softwares and a live mixing console (2 CDJS + 1 mixer). Nothing particular :)

I make all the digital mixes using pc software (audio editors like ACID, Live, etc.). This is the reason why I never called myself a "DJ".

I prefer this way, instead of live mixing using CDJs, because I find it much more comfortable and accurate for my purposes, which are mixes "for many listens". Usually making a mix takes me LOOOOT of time, like 2-3 hours a day for at least 7-10 days. I "work" slowly and very concentrated because I want every transition to sound exactly like I wanted and, also, I try to find the best musical flow for the entire mix duration. Besides, I usually edit most of the songs played (because I find them too long or for other reasons) in the best way possible.

Selecting the songs is another important step during the making of a mix. I only play songs which I really like. I believe this is a very distinctive and important element of my mixes!

Finally, a good mix wouldn't be as good without the voiceovers of Anthya and the beautiful cover artworks of my Canadian friend James Kurczaba. Not only James is a skilled graphic designer, but he has the unique gift of translating on visual art his feelings while listening to music. Together we try to create the cover that can best represent the story that each mix wants to tell. See below how you can help, donating some cash to him ;)

Mixes FAQ  Do you spin live?
Rarely. Here in Italy I can't play the genre and the songs I love. Moreover most Italian Club DJS are inside a world and a business made of money, favors, appearance, knowing-the-right-people and so on.

One day I'd like to have occasions to play Trance live, hopefully outside Italy. Interaction with the dancing crowd is one of the most funny and beautiful life experiences ever :) If you are a club/pub owner and would like me to play live, or you know a place/event where there could be the possibility for me to play, get in touch with me!

Mixes FAQ  I love your mixes and I'd like to donate!
Thank you a lot but there's no need for that! I'm not rich, but I never made the mixes for the money and - I hope - I'll never need to.

I make mixes as a hobby and my only goal is to transmit emotions with them. If someone listens to them and likes them, well, I have nothing else to ask :)

For the same reason, I don't want to have any restrictions because of the money. I prefer having complete freedom on when releasing a mix, which tracks playing and so on.

Knowing that someone feels good listening to my mixes is everything I need and the only reason why I make them.

Any other kind of support is strongly appreciated though :) Comments, feedback, sharing, etc. Spread the word, spread the music! And support the artists buying their songs (you can easily find them on Audiojelly, Juno and Beatport).

If you wish to donate some money, however, you can send them to my "cover-man" James Kurczaba, specially if you like his beautiful artworks :) Just click here:

Finally special thanks to: Timo for the live radio streaming, download server and bandwidth (mirror 1); Dave Jansen for the download server and bandwidth (mirror 2). I'm currently looking for someone who could offer some space and bandwidth as third download mirror... if you're reading this and can help, drop me a message!
